There’s tons of free samples and rebate grocery items out there. I love those, but I’m always on the lookout for a unique offer too. Free insurance is definitely unique.
Offered by Avibra, it’s open to anyone between the ages of 18 to 62. No premiums, no intrusive questions, no problem. It’s as easy as signing up for any other app.
Specifically they offer up to $10,000 of ADD, or accidental death and dismemberment (yikes!) insurance. It’s an easy call for anyone lacking ADD insurance, or anyone who wants to supplement the plan they already have.
The total amount might not be huge for insurance, but the ease and accesibility of Avibra make up for it. Plus there’s a way to increase coverage for a low fee, which I’ll get into later.
Let’s see how it works!
How Do You Get Free Insurance From Avibra?
On Avibra you earn insurance in small increments by doing tasks.
If your’e anything like me you probably just decided that this sounds suspicious. When I heard that I immediately thought that Avibra would operate like a shady money making website. Probably you’d have to repeatedly sign up for things and give away personal info in the hopes of getting more coverage.
But I’m happy to report that Avibra isn’t like that at all. The tasks in this case are things like reading a quick article or taking an interactive quiz on disaster preparedness. They’re entirely painless and sometimes they’re helpful too.
Each task is ususally worth $10 in free insurance. The coverage amount builds up cumulatively as times goes on. New tasks to earn coverage are released each week.
Avibra mentions in their explainers that they don’t want you to need to constantly check the app because too much screen time can be bad for a person. It operates very differently from most apps.
Each week five or so quick tasks are released. Once they appear they continue to be available, so if you don’t have time one week there’s no problem. You don’t have to complete all five either: it’s always just as much as you want to do.
You’ll even get some free coverage just by being a member of the app. One of the renewal options (more on this later) is sending $10 of gift coverage to a stranger. You’ll benefit from other people’s participation just like they benefit from yours.
How To Remain An Active Member
I made this a separate section because it’s so important.
If you aren’t an active member you lose your accumulated free insurance coverage.
Fortunately it’s easy to stay active. All you need to do is renew each month. You renew by logging in at somepoint after the 23rd of a month and before the 1st of the next month.
When it’s renewal time a card like the one to the left will appear. Either click on the trees planted to plant a tree or click on helping families to send a gift of $10 in coverage to another user, at no cost to yourself.
And you’re good for another month!
Just make sure to check in towards the end of the month so you don’t lose your coverage.
Extending The Benefits From Avibra
The core part of Avibra is completely free. But, if you like, there’s a premium membership that costs $12 a year to join.
If you’re a premium member your coverage will automatically renew each month and you don’t have to worry about losing it. You’ll earn twice as much coverage for each tastk too. You also get a prescription discount card and access to the dollar benefits store.
And what’s the dollar benefits store? It’s a selection of add-on benefits you can buy for $1 a week. I’ve included a screenshot of the benefit list below. To me the cell phone protection for three memebers of your family or the add-on insurance beneftis seem tempting.
Should You Get Free Insurance From Avibra?
As far as I know, Avibra is the only place that offers free insurance. So if you don’t have ADD insurance it’s a great idea to join. For not much effort it’ll give some security to yourself or your loved ones in case of an accident.
Speaking of loved ones, don’t forget to designate a beneficiary for your account. It’s easy to set it up in the app.
What do you think? Do you know of any similar offerings? Let me know in the comments.
