If you’d like to invest but also want the whole process to be as easy as possible, Acorns offers an account that will help. It’s a spare change investing app that automates investing.
There’s almost always some kind of Acorns brokerage bonus just for signing up too.
I’ll tell you about it below.
I may receive payments or incentives for sign ups and clicks generated through links on this page. Please see the full disclosure for more information. Thank you for the support!
Acorns has a shopping portal too, which you can read more about on my list of shopping portals.

Notes
The automated investment round-ups take whatever change is left over when you spend money on a linked account, up to the nearest dollar. For example, if you spend $14.52, then $0.48 will be designated to invest. Once the amount reaches $5 your account will be debited and the $5 will be automatically invested.
The difference between the plans:
- Personal is the most basic
- Personal Plus adds the ability to make an emergency fund, extra cash back, market reports and live financial experts
- Premium adds a complimentary will, the ability to pick certain stocks, and the ability to open an investment account for a child
Should You Sign Up For The Acorns Brokerage Bonus?
This section’s title is a bit misleading, because the actual sign-up bonus here is quite small. The value of Acorns lies in using it or referring people.
Having automated investments is a very nice thing. The bits of change that would otherwise seem pretty useless, the $0.30 and the $.09 you have left over, will add up faster than you expect. If you want to invest but don’t want to think about it, this is a great account for you.
That’s why the mascot is a squirrel! Acorns hides away things for later. Real talk though, squirrels are pretty vicious, so I’m assuming the mascot might also attack you if you don’t send anything.
As far as referrals go, Acorns constantly offers large bonuses to users who refer certain amounts of people in a given time frame. For example, you might get $450 for referring two people in a week. If you have some people to send you can make quite a bit of money from it.
There’s the unfortunate monthly fee, but the lowest tier of $3 is affordable and includes all the main features.
