If you shop at Target, you should definitely check out the Target RedCard Bonus. They’ll give you $50 to spend at Target for signing up!

The RedCard is interesting: it actually has 3 versions.

  • A debit card linked to your bank account
  • A credit card
  • a reloadable card

I’ll break down the debit and credit cards below. They have some good benefits if you shop at Target.

How the $50 promo works depends on which card you decide to get.

Debit Redcard

A coupon worth $50 off on any purchase $50 or more.

Just fill out the form and sign up.

Be a new RedCard customer.

There are no monthly or annual fees.

  • 5% off of Target purchases in-store or online.
  • Free 2-Day shipping on many items.
  • Special deals
  • An additional 30 days of returns at Target

No current deadline listed.

It can take 1-3 days for purchases to process and the money to be withdrawn from your account.

The debit RedCard isn’t actually a full-fledged bank account. Instead, it’s a card that links to an existing checking account and withdraws the money from there automatically when you use the card.

All you really have to do is fill out the form, link a bank account, and set up a log-in to get the debit RedCard. It won’t ding your credit because it has nothing to do with credit.

You’ll receive a coupon for the promo amount in the mail after signing up. The coupon is usable both online and in-store.

Credit Redcard

A coupon for $50 off a purchase of $50 or more at Target.

Just sign up and be approved.

You need to be a new customer.

APR: 27.65% variable

There are no monthly or annual fees.

  • 5% off at Target in-store or online
  • 2% back on gas and dining
  • 1% back on all other purchases
  • Free 2-Day shipping on many items
  • Special deals
  • An additional 30 days to return items at Target

No current deadline listed.

The cash back earned will go towards a Target gift card.

It takes $10 minimum in cash back to redeem.

The credit version of RedCard is a regular credit card that you can use anywhere. It will make a hard inquiry on your credit just like other credit applications.

The $10 minimum cash out is a bit awkward, as is the fact that Target gift cards are the only choice. If you’re not planning on using this heavily I’d stay away, because it will take $1000 spending for most categories to receive your first gift card.

The rates on other categories aren’t bad, but the best things about this card are the 5% off and free shipping, which are already done by the debit version. You won’t get any additional percentage back from Target itself, because you’re getting the discount.

As with the debit card, you’ll get a coupon in the mail that is usable online or in-store.

Reloadable Redcard

The reloadable version of the RedCard carries the same standard benefits like free shipping and 5% off, but it works a bit differently.

You’ll have a RedCard account that you can fund with cash for free at Target, or for a fee elsewhere. It’s also possible to transfer from an external account like Venmo or a generic checking account using routing and account numbers. Whether that has a fee depends on the bank in question, but Target won’t charge a fee on their part.

The promo amount will be given as a statement credit to you RedCard account instead of a coupon.

TIP: If you buy more than $50 at one time on the Target website but the order is split into more than one delivery, the bonus might not get applied. It happened to mesurprised If that’s the case you’ll need to contact customer support.

The Target Redcard Bonus – In Conclusion

This used to be $40, but it’s up to $50 now. Jump on it if you want it!

As you can tell from what I wrote above, the debit card seems a bit better to me than the credit card.

The core benefits of 5% off and free shipping on lots of items from Target online are great. It could save a lot of money if you shop at Target regularly. Even if you don’t have a store near you the perks of this card make ordering online a very attractive option.

The coupon will take a bit to be mailed to you, so be patient! That was the hardest part for metongue-out

What do you think? Do you want it? And what are you gonna buy with the $50? Let me know below.
